BatB, Not What I'd Hoped For

"Is something wrong? Wasn't this what you wanted?"
"I thought it was...But this isn't...quite what I'd hoped for."
"What else could you hope for, really?"
"Something...a little less doughy maybe? A little taller, a little more striking. Something stronger, rougher, sharper, wilder...something better. This just...well, it's not what I wanted."

This isn't hugely spoilerific, but there you have it. When Biest becomes Luca once more, he isn't entirely happy with what he finds. For all that time that he was cursed, I think Biest sincerely felt that he was stuck the way he was. He never questioned that he was going to stay cursed forever. As a result, I don't think he ever wondered what he might be like as a human being. Rather than saying "hey, based on what I looked like as a younger person, what would the older me look like?" he just made assumptions about what he might be if he ever made it out of his binds.

It was so outlandish for him that he simply took fragments of the male physical characteristics he thought were attractive and assumed that that would be the sort of face and body he would have if he ever did manage to get out of the curse he was under. A long tradition of fairy-tale based narratives having precedence in the Practitionary history probably didn't help develop these ideas. (Nor do the ultimate fates of a few other characters in this story help.)

Anyway, here you get to see him get a look at himself for the first time.

Yeah, I still haven't quite got down his physique...I'm getting closer, but the way I see him in my head is not how I've ever managed to capture him yet.

And yeah, I totally copped out on that mirror.
